ICD Volume 3 Hospital Procedure Codes and DRG Codes
ICD Volume 3 codes describe the procedures performed and billed within a hospital setting. This book is referenced within the ICD CODES book spine within Flash Code. By clicking on the ICD book title (shown in gray at the right of this text) all of the ICD Volume 1
Chapter headings will be displayed plus a link to both ICD Volume 3 Chapter headings and the 25 Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) Major Diagnostic Category list.

These are displayed at the bottom of the page (see screen shot at the bottom of this page) and the text is in red to better differentiate these special records and links

ICD Volume 3 has over 4,000 codes and is organized as follows:

Chapter Heading>Subchapters>Two Digit Procedure Code Classifications>Three Digit subclassification codes> (where needed) Four digit subclassification codes.

There is a decimal point after the two digit classification codes. As with the ICD volume 1 diagnosis codes, you must navigate to the maximum level of specificity, i.e. to a third or fourth digit subclassification code, when one exists.
