General Questions:
#4 When is the information in Flash Code updated?
The information in Flash Code is updated quarterly for both the Internet (web) and CD-ROM (desktop) versions. This most easily accommodates the update cycles of the codes sets that form the core of our software products.
The ICD 10 codes have their major update each October 1st. Codes released on this date carry the next year's label. So codes released with an effective date of October 1st, 2019 will be listed as codes effective for the 2020 coding season
CPT and
HCPCS codes have their major update each January and are effective throughout that calendar year. These code sets have minor udpates that typically take effect on the first day of each quarter
NCCI (unbundling) edits are updated quarterly
NCD and
LCD policies may be updated during any month of the year. FCS includes these updates in each quarterly release.
NDC codes have no set schedule for updates and are included at each quarterly release.
Please note: For the Desktop version, each quarters release is a complete set of files that do not rely on previous versions in order to function. The update will not override your existing files. The reason for this is to allow you to keep archived copies of previous quarters information in case you have to look up an old date of service.
