#1 Where can I find my LCD region number?
The Local Coverage Determination (LCD) carrier numbers identify each of the carriers that administer the LCDs for geographic regions across the United States. The content of these LCDs often includes ICD to CPT/HCPCS codes that must be billed together (medical necessity) in order for services to be paid by medicare. You can set your region as follows:
Desktop & Web: Navigate to OPTIONS, then select PREFS(desktop) or Update Preferences (web). This will take you to the Flash Code PREFERENCES Page. Under the Local Coverage Determination Preferences, look for "LCD Practice Location". The value list beneath it includes the state and carrier number. Select the state in which the doctor is providing services.
