ICD Volume 3 (Hospital Procedure) Coding, DRG Coding.
In addition to finding diagnosis codes from the ICD book, there are two additional references found within the ICD CODES spine that help users find information for hospital billing:

1. ICD Volume 3 procedure codes
2. Diagnosis Related Groupings

Either of these can be accessed by clicking on the ICD book title-they are displayed after the ICD Volume 1 code chapter headings...you will find them at the bottom of the page in red lettering. Just click on either link to display their headings.

There are over 4,000 ICD volume 3 procedure codes. These contain a two digit category code, followed by a decimal point and either a 3rd or 4th digit for more specific codes. Note again that Green lights represent nonbillable codes (i.e. go to the next intersection) whereas Red lights represent billable codes (you've reached the end of the road)

The DRG system contains 25 Major Diagnostic Categories. Each of these MDCs has a listing of the DRGs, followed by individual ICD codes that fall within these categories.
